Before using WordPress must know Simple 17 things


1) Install WordPress on your domain

Either by quick install button provided in CPanel or by copying the WordPress archive from to your file hosting domain.

2) Remove the default wordpress content

Remove the default wordpress content such as default “Hello World” post, “Sample Page” page and comments.

This is recommended because of security reason

4) Create a new Administrator user account

5) Create a Gravatar account

Create a Gravatar account with the same email that you used in your WordPress website. Your gravatar photo will be displayed in your website. Make sure you organize your profile carefully, because it is a great way to present yourself on your website. Edit your profile from the profile menu in the dashboard and fill all the information you want to show to your visitors.

After doing all the required fixes add some cool content on your website, let everyone that you have a web address. It is a really good practice to Always backup your database also all the files you have in your website, so if anything happens you still have the ability to restore anytime.

You can do it using wordpress plugin Importer or in tools export all things that you placed in website.


6) Change the site title and description

Go to (Dashboard -> Settings -> General Settings).

7) Define the Permalink Structure

Define the Permalink Structure (Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks) the deafault permalink structure is not a good choice for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) purposes.

8) Install and activate a theme

Go to (Dashboard -> Appearance -> Themes)

A theme defines the look and the functionality of a WordPress site. It is important to choose an appropriate and best theme suitable for your content that describe your blog or company best. Checkout Thousands of themes are freely available in>themes

9) Install and activate all the required plugins

Some themes are by default with new installed theme but then also requie lot of plugins to make good functionality site. Like popup, notification bar, SEO plugin, XML sitemap, limit login, animation plugin many more…


10) Remove unnecessary WordPress meta tag from header

If you see your WordPress website’s source code in a browser you will find some meta tags that aren’t really required, something like this:

This is an ideal source for hackers who are searching for WordPress website of older version to target. To completely remove these useless WordPress generated meta tags from your header, add these code in your theme’s functions.php file.

11) Add content to your theme

Start adding best content to your site. If you have some advanced content management skills.

12) Import the content and settings (Backup)

Time to time take a backup of your site content so if problem arise in future instead of loosing everything it is good to take a bacup weekly, it takes less than one minute. Dashboard -> Tools -> Export -> WordPress Importer


13) Set the default home page and blog page in (Dashboard -> Settings -> Reading)

16) Always keep your theme, WordPress installation plugins and scripts up-to-date because of security reason.
